"The first man to compare the cheeks of a young woman to a rose was obviously a poet;
the first to repeat it was possibly an idiot." - Salvador Dali

Oleg Korenfeld's book - The Anatomy of Gluttony

Self Portrait

Black turtleneck.
Familiar grin is hovering above it.
I'm dizzy with anticipation, and I love it.
My soul is a diluted silhouette

indented on a burning cigarette.
And even if the bridge is gone,
the meaning still remains within transparent phrases
of an obscure sonnet.

Alas, the shortness of my neck
curbs any will to reach for greatness.
So I grew gills ignoring complications.
Committed to dig up the ocean floor,

I fearlessly grab the brush and draw
myself, but as a sizzling Pisces
with human features - gluttony and pride -
inside a frying pan; still elegantly dressed in coats of spices.
Rough Draft

Half eaten freedom
chosen by eager servants,
who never dared to storm the gates of Eden,
only because they were perverts.

My mind is a rough draft -
a perfectly ordered mess,
collection of someone's craft.
Printed, bound and pressed.

Take my exhausted,
yet never drained ambitions.
Whatever reason I had, I lost it
in the confusion of my nightly visions.

Feed me with bread and water.
Show me the land that bred me -
mid-child syndrome stricken daughter,
breastfed with rancid milk of envy.

Cut into peaces
(Just to create evolution
out of an ancient thesis,
no, rhetoric) dry and modern elusion.
